Meet the designer

A Ryerson-trained
designer with soul

Debbie Cordeiro is a Canadian-born designer who graduated from Ryerson University with a B.A. in Fashion Production. After working for a national fashion wholesaler and several well-renowned fashion studios, she launched her own independent design practice in Vaughan, Ontario.

Her favourite eras are the 1920s and 1950s, and she has a deep love for classic, feminine design. That sensibility — timeless, elegant, personal — runs through every bridesmaid gown and alteration she creates.

Every client is different. Every dress should be too.

Common questions

Frequently Asked

How far in advance should I book? +

For wedding dress alterations, we recommend booking at least 6 to 8 weeks before your wedding date — and earlier if your wedding falls in spring or fall, our busiest seasons. For other alterations and special occasion wear, 4 to 6 weeks is usually sufficient. We do our best to accommodate last-minute requests so it is always worth calling us to check availability.

How many fittings will I need? +

For wedding dress alterations, most brides need 2 appointments — an initial fitting where we assess and pin the dress, and a final fitting once the work is complete. Some dresses requiring more significant work may need a third visit. For simpler alterations such as hemming or taking in a seam, one appointment is often enough. We will let you know at your first visit what to expect.

Do you alter garments purchased elsewhere? +

Absolutely. We alter all types of garments — wedding dresses, formalwear, special occasion dresses, everyday clothing, and more — regardless of where they were purchased. We also specialise in correcting alterations that were not done properly by another seamstress.

Are men welcome at the studio? +

Absolutely — men are very welcome! We alter suits, trousers, dress shirts, and formal wear for men with the same care and precision as our bridal and occasion work. Whether it is a suit that needs taking in, trousers that need hemming, or a jacket that needs adjusting, give us a call and we will be happy to help.

Do you offer memory pillows, quilts, and teddy bears? +

Yes — these are some of our most meaningful services. Debbie can transform a treasured garment into a memory pillow, a keepsake quilt, or a memory teddy bear — a beautiful way to preserve a loved one's clothing or repurpose a dress with sentimental value. She can also repurpose wedding dresses and other special garments into something new. These services are typically offered during quieter periods of the year, so please call ahead to check availability before coming in.

What should I bring to my first appointment? +

Bring the garment you need altered, the shoes you plan to wear, and the undergarments you intend to wear with it. For wedding dresses, this is especially important as heel height and foundation garments both affect how the dress should be fitted. If you have inspiration photos or specific ideas in mind, bring those too.

Do you offer gift certificates? +

Yes! Gift certificates make a wonderful gift for brides-to-be, mothers of the bride, or anyone who deserves something special. Call or email us and we will be happy to arrange one for you.

Is parking available at your studio? +

Yes — there is plenty of free parking directly at the studio. We are located at 2 Tall Grass Trail, Unit 8, Vaughan, Ontario. All appointments are by arrangement only, so you will never have to wait around when you arrive.
