A little preparation goes a long way. Here is exactly what to bring to your first appointment so we can make the most of your time together and get your dress looking perfect.
This is the single most important thing to bring, and it's also the most commonly forgotten. The heel height of your shoes determines the hem length of your dress. Even a 1-inch difference can require a completely different hemline. If you don't have your shoes yet, bring a pair with a similar heel height as a placeholder — but do get your actual shoes sorted as soon as possible.
Bring the exact bra, shapewear, or strapless undergarments you plan to wear on the day. These items change the silhouette of the dress more than most people realize. A different bra can shift the neckline, change the bust fit, and affect where the waist sits. There are no surprises on the big day when you've fitted with the right foundations.
If the dress is coming from a bridal boutique, ask them to press it lightly before you bring it in. A wrinkled dress is harder to pin and fit accurately. It doesn't need to be perfectly steamed — just not crumpled in a bag.
Bring photos of what you love about the dress, and what you'd like to change. Even a screenshot saved to your phone is helpful. If you love how a certain celebrity's dress fitted at the waist, show us — it gives Debbie a clear target to work toward.
Having a second set of eyes is helpful, but keep the group small. Too many opinions can create confusion. One trusted person is ideal.
If you've had a hair trial and know whether you'll be wearing your hair up or down, let Debbie know. It can affect how the back of the dress is fitted, particularly for dresses with low backs or intricate closures.
Avoid bringing the whole wedding party to your first fitting. This is a focused, technical appointment and extra people can be distracting. There will be plenty of time for everyone to see the final result.
Also, avoid eating a very large meal right before — not because of how you look, but because it genuinely changes how the bodice fits. Come as you normally would on your wedding day.
Your first appointment with Debbie typically lasts 45–75 minutes. She will assess the dress, discuss your vision, take measurements, and begin pinning. You'll leave with a clear picture of what's possible and a timeline for completion. Most dresses require 2–3 fitting appointments in total before the final pickup.
